Beta-Carotene is derived from carrots and is a natural, non-toxic precursor to Vitamin A, i.e. the body will produce from Beta-Carotene the amount of Vitamin A it needs without over-dose or excess build-up (toxicity).
During the normal metabolism of Beta Carotene, the inherent molecular electron donating properties, also referred to as the “hopping charge”, are reduced by as much as 40%. This drop in the “hopping charge” leads to a reduction in the antioxidant activity of the Beta-Carotene. However, the introduction of Selenium from amino acid chelates in the production of CAROTAVIT at the appropriate stage during the manufacturing process has been shown to stabilize the “hopping charge”. Thus the resultant combination measures and delivers a greater electrical effect within the body. This extra hopping charge generates a strong affinity for Beta-Carotene wherever needed within the body. Thus effective anti-oxidant activity is greatly enhanced.
